Feeling Nostalgic - Teen Titans: Battle Blitz

If you change the channel to Cartoon Network it's likely you'll find yourself watching Teen Titans Go! Before Teen Titans Go!, there was just Teen Titans, a superhero cartoon that featured action, drama, and silly moments too. As the show aired, several games were released on various platforms, including the Gamecube, Playstation 2, and even on Cartoon Network's website.

Today we will be taking a look at a personal favorite of mine, Teen Titans: Battle Blitz! Battle Blitz is a fighting game that features a cast of ten playable characters, the Teen Titans (Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Raven) and a handful of villains (Jinx, Gizmo, Mammoth, Cinderblock, and Plasmus). Each character has their own moveset which can be viewed when selecting your character. The Titans can even call in other Titans for an assist! Personally, I preferred to play as Jinx since she had this energy move that you could spam.

There are three difficulties, Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert. You face off against five characters which change depending on which character you pick. If you pick one of the Titans you'll fight all five of the villains and vice versa. Each battle consists of up to three 90 second rounds. To win, you need to either knock out your opponent by depleting all of their HP or have more HP than your opponent when the round ends. You need to win two rounds to move on to the next opponent.

Since I couldn't find a way to play this game, I don't have much to say about my personal experience with it. I remember being really bad at this game. I couldn't pull off most of the special moves and pretty much relied on punches and kicks. Playing as Cinderblock and Plasmus was frustrating since neither fighter could jump. I may have been trash at this game, but I definitely had a good time playing it!

Teen Titans: Battle Blitz was released in 2003 by THIS IS POP. Battle Blitz was originally available on Cartoon Network's website, however, it is no longer available to play. THIS IS POP has a playable version on their website which requires Adobe Shockwave to play. Unfortunately, Shockwave is no longer supported making Battle Blitz unplayable.
